Im Nigerian.One hundred Percent. This weekend was my chance to represent and celebrate 49 years of my country’s independence.
(I wasnt decked out in green and white, doesnt look good on me)
I met up with Kemi and Danielle and headed over to 54th and 2nd around 4 o clock to find out that the parade had just ended. So we walked down a few blocks to find out that we just missed Wale perform
FUCK!
But I did get to see a whole bunch of Nigerian fam from Staten Island and got to see Serani Perform on stage.
It was a pretty awesome performance. Nigerians really love them some Serani.
It felt good to be around my people enjoying food and music. I love how corny yet funny and loving Nigerians can be. I appreciate the fact that I recognize my culture and be able to embrace it in my own city of New York.
